Description: Prairie Hills Resource Conservation and Development (PHRCD) is seeking a Program Coordinator. The PHRCD Program Coordinator develops and implements programs including community education and outreach, fundraising, grant management, and volunteer management.
About us: Established in 1976, PHRCD plans and conducts activities that increase the conservation of natural resources, support economic development, and enhance the environment and standard of living for citizens in local communities. PHRCD continues to serve local communities through a locally led process where citizens work together to plan how they can actively solve environmental, economic, and social issues, explore opportunities, and build community pride. PHRCD works within west-central Illinois and has the following program divisions: Prairie Land Conservancy, Macomb Community Gardens, Small Business Loan Program, and EPA Brownfields Community Wide Assessment Grant.
Interested applicants should have strong skills in marketing, social media management, grant writing, fundraising, event management, have an interest in land conservation, and be able to work well with the public.
Rate of pay: Commensurate with experience. PHRCD will provide mileage at the IRS rate. Hours: 24 hours a week. Some weekends may be required. Federal Holidays are observed.
Duties May Include: Community Outreach -Website maintenance, design & updates -Social media content creation & management for Facebook accounts, Instagram, YouTube channel or other social media applications -Regular email contact with RCD support base -Production of the monthly e-newsletter - The Nature Brief -Production of the quarterly printed newsletter - The Prairie Update -Plan and implement outreach/educational/ fundraising events -Maintain updated PHRCD and PLC contacts and membership information
Fundraising -Track donor giving with company software -Create, publicize, and manage fundraisers -Recruit members/ donors -Foster and maintain positive relationships with the donor base -Assist in processing donor payments in Quick Books or similar accounting software -Manage donor receipts and gratitude communications, including public donor recognitions -Organize multiple opportunities for giving through various mediums year-round -Communicate budgeting needs for fundraising to the board -Set fundraising goals and track successes and failures -Foster transparency and provide donors with examples of how their money is being used.
Grant Management -Assist in writing and applying for grants -Grant management assistance -Publicize successful grant acquisitions
Volunteer Management -Recruit volunteers through multiple mediums -Schedule volunteer workdays and solo opportunities -Assist training volunteers as needed for special projects -Publicly and privately acknowledge the work of volunteers -Track and evaluate retention percentages -Manage and update the volunteer database, including annual volunteer hours -Practice good risk management in the field (safety, waivers, training)
Finance -Have a good working knowledge of program budgets -Propose and manage budgets for events, fundraising, and education -Assist the Executive Director with developing, updating, and implementing the corporation’s Strategic Plans through: -Collection of resource data -Identification of problems -Establishment of goals, objectives, and strategies -Development of project plans -Implementation of project plans that address Corporation goals -Coordinate various programs operated by the corporation with staff, board of directors, various federal or state offices, local governments, individuals, and other partners -Working within a team concept to assist in the development and implementation of ways to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of products and/or services provided to internal and external customers. -Performance of duties in a manner supportive of the civil rights policies and equal employment opportunities, without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, age, handicap, national origin, or political affiliation.
Land Protection -Should have a basic understanding of open space planning, and land management/stewardship. -Assist with management operations which may include invasive plant management, prescribed burns, pesticide mixing & application, knowledge of plant identification/ native species, confidence in use and maintenance of power equipment (chain saws, brush saws, etc). -Working knowledge of land protection mechanisms such as conservation easements or land donations. -Effective communication with landowners, as the initial point of contact.
